POLICE WARNING - our community policeman has sent a warning about a doorstep scam that has arrived in the county.
The scam involves persons putting mailing cards through the letter boxes of local residents suggesting that they have tried to deliver a parcel and that they were not able to deliver it .

The mailshot is from an alleged company called PARCEL DELIVERY SERVICE. This is NOT a genuine company.

The mailshot goes on further to state that the occupant should dial a number that is provided on the mailshot in order to arrange delivery. The parcel does not exist.

This scam originates in Cetral America in the country of BELIZE!!

The telephone number provided to contact is 0906 6611911. This is a premium rate number and as soon as the call is connected the caller is automatically billed for a minimum of £15.!!!!

If anyone receives one of these mail shots then they should contact ROYAL MAIL FRAUD on 0207 2396655.

Alternatively they could contact ICSTIS the premium rate service regulator on www.icstis.org.uk via the internet.

The police service of Northern Ireland have a note about this scam on their website. You can read more about it there.
